I’ve just recently learned that a couple of photographs I submitted to a contest will be published in the 2008 North American Motoring Calendar!

Not bad eh.

It’s almost eight years since we’ve been living at this apartment complex and it hasn’t always been easy. The first couple of years I had to put in plenty of overtime hours at work just to catch up on the bills that had accumulated. It helped a lot finacially but really hurt my health and marriage.

Now that we both make pretty good money, it seems that we’re still in a rut.

I’ve seen plenty of other couples leave here to move into homes. With the way the wife handles her finances, it’s unlikely we’ll be providing a “traditional” home for our kids any time soon.

Over the weekend the wife and I popped in an old dvd of Tommy Lee Jones’s “Volcano”. Since she’s a Chicagoan, I had to explain the hilarity of the scene in which an Angelyne billboard gets roasted by spewing lava. She laughed when I told her that the bimbo was a shameless self-promoter.

Anyway, it made me think of how far we’ve come in the area of self-promotion. Now instead of billboards, one can use the internet to advertise one’s services. Crew 12’s website is one that gets pretty creative at accomplishing this. (Click on “Extras” for some interesting behind-the-scenes bits.)

That’s what she told me about an hour ago as I was snuggling up to her.

In most other relationships this would just pass, but when a spouse has betrayed and lied about that betrayal, these moments take on a different impact.

Here’s a handy little Wired article about how toGet the Most Out of Flickr. If you’ve used Flickr for any length of time like I have, most of the tips you probably already know about. Either way, it’s pretty informative.

I ran across this rather interesting story (video) about a young lady who saw her photograph being used in an advertisement but without her permission.

Apparently someone in Australia saw her image on Flickr and decided it would fit their advertising campaign. Now her parents are suing the company for having done so.

Sounds pretty creepy.
